By using PdfDocShift ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully before using the Service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using PdfDocShift at docshift.io ("the Website"), you confirm that you are at least 13 years old and agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

PdfDocShift provides a free, web-based PDF processing service including compression, conversion, splitting, merging, encryption, watermarking, OCR and other document operations. The Service is provided "as is" and may be modified or discontinued at any time without notice.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You must not:

• Upload files that contain malware, viruses or other harmful code.
• Upload files that you do not own or do not have the right to process.
• Use the Service to process content that is illegal, defamatory, obscene or infringes any third-party intellectual property rights.
• Attempt to circumvent rate limits, abuse the API or disrupt the availability of the Service for others.
• Use the Service for any commercial purpose that involves reselling access to our infrastructure.
• Automate uploads or conversions without prior written permission.

4. Your Files and Intellectual Property

You retain full ownership of all files you upload. By uploading a file, you grant PdfDocShift a temporary, limited licence to process that file solely for the purpose of providing the requested conversion. This licence terminates when your files are deleted (within 2 hours of upload).

You warrant that you have the legal right to upload and process each file, and that doing so does not infringe any third-party rights.

5. Privacy and File Deletion

All uploaded files and converted output files are automatically deleted within 2 hours of upload. We do not retain copies of your files. Please download your converted files before the 2-hour window expires. PdfDocShift accepts no liability for files that expire before download.

6. File Size and Usage Limits

The maximum file size per upload is 50 MB. Rate limits apply to prevent abuse and ensure fair service for all users. Requests that exceed rate limits will be rejected with an HTTP 429 response.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that conversions will produce perfect output in all cases.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, PdfDocShift shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, including loss of data, revenue or profits, arising from or related to your use of the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

9. Third-Party Services

The Service uses third-party cloud infrastructure and may display advertising served by Google AdSense. These third parties operate under their own terms and privacy policies, which you should review independently.

10. Modifications to the Service

We reserve the right to modify, suspend or discontinue the Service (or any part thereof) at any time, with or without notice. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension or discontinuation.
